What I Do: Executive Coaching

Leading under pressure

Most of the leaders I work with are good at their jobs. That is rarely the problem. The problem is what it costs them to keep looking as though everything is under control.

Executive Coaching

Pressure does strange things to capable people.

They sleep less and decide faster. They stop asking for help, because they are the one everyone else asks. Somewhere along the way the mask they wear at work starts to feel like the only face they have.

I know that place. I spent years in senior roles at Sony, MGM/UA, Paramount and Universal, and later watched my own company implode. I did not learn about stress from a book.

Coaching with me is practical. We look at what actually happens to you under pressure, the fear underneath it and the story you tell yourself at three in the morning. Then we build ways of meeting it that hold up in the real world, in the boardroom and at home.

Much of this comes from my book Fear, Masks & Shadows. Fear carries information. When we stop hiding from it, it loses most of its grip, and we start making decisions from a steadier place.

Sessions are online, by Zoom or Teams. We usually begin with six, then decide together whether to go on. I take on no more than ten clients a year.
