Why are big companies turning to Mindfulness?

    Posted by Jon Treanor0 Comments

Mindfulness. That’s got to be a load of mumbo-jumbo, right? Well, I thought it was too until I spent eight days in silence at a monastery for a BBC TV series called The Big Silence in 2009. That’s when I went from a successful business workaholic to a man who’d found the answer to work stress and personal unhappiness.

    Crisis or Inspiration?

    Posted by Jon Treanor0 Comments

Senior executives and high achievers are unaware that they are operating on autopilot; personal decision making is a ceaseless engine grinding the life out of the creativity in all of us. Quality of thought & reasoning is becoming harder to maintain, particularly in today’s fast frenetic and sometimes furious world. We have developed an over-reliance on assumptions, with the internet demanding instant decision making, I personally believe we are in danger of eroding our human values. We are all suffering from decision fatigue.

    Why me?

    Posted by Jon Treanor0 Comments

Mindfulness mentoring is about me being a catalyst, to implement and manifest a change or transformation process in a person’s life. At its heart it is articulating and defining the Potential Self and understanding the Current Self. Together with a client we then build a personal approach to realise the full potential of your true self. You may be a high achiever and have all the wealth and success you have dreamt of; or indeed you may be striving to achieve your goals. The mind is most scattered when it tries to cling on to things and avoid or escape others; Mindfulness mentoring offers the potential of staying present with whatever there is, a wider perspective. Chances are there remains a void deep within you, something you can’t quite put your finger on. You have in the main been on auto pilot. If you find yourself resisting these words then chances are you remain on auto pilot and believe in your own story and thoughts, you are in fact much more than your thoughts and possessions. Have you ever really challenged your own assumptions? Or do you rely of the trappings of your wealth and power to re affirm your sense of identity and self? Maybe you surround yourself with others to do your bidding. It may be a lonely place.

Once upon a time in a land far far away....

    Posted by Jon Treanor0 Comments

Stories, myths, parables and prose offer us insights to understanding some of the difficult questions in life. As a child I loved stories, I read comic after comic immersing myself in stories of colourful or scary characters or learning of faraway lands that were magical In there description. When I discovered cinema these stories came to life, the characters became real the heroes of my childhood now spoke and did all the things the stories told me they could do. I was hooked and sought to follow my passion; a career in film, media and games where I could be closer to the stories and the characters I loved and that had such an impact on how I saw the world was.

    The Inevitability of Life

    Posted by Jon Treanor0 Comments

It is inevitable that at some time in our life we will face a crisis of some kind. An event that rocks our world and shatters the very foundations that we have constructed our life around. It does not have to be a major trauma it may simply be something that triggers us to review who we are, what we stand for, what our life is about. What have I achieved? What's it all for? Who do I choose to be? Or even who am I?

We are all mentors for each other

    Posted by Jon Treanor0 Comments

I am often asked whether or not I have a mentor myself, the easy answer is yes, and actually I have several support mechanisms in place to assist my personal growth and development. Ever the student, I don’t accept the work-life balance position, we have one life, work is part of that life and the successful individual is one who can balance all aspects of their self and life. If we can achieve and maintain that balance then we will have a rewarding life experience. For that in my experience we each need support and guidance, I receive personal therapy weekly and practice mindfulness regularly. I have supervision every week in order to sustain my work and personal requirements, we all have issues, no one has all of the answers, we all need to ensure we are supported. I have a personal trainer and a golf coach, I choose to improve and therefore guidance by relevant experts is essential. I have a sounding board and a mentor who I trust and respect, I also happen to like them as an individual, the chemistry works.
